During his Year 13 studies at Rotorua Boys’ High School, Corban enrolled in our "Take Off" micro-credential in Aviation Ground Handling, where he quickly developed a strong interest in airport operations. His enthusiasm and aptitude became evident throughout the programme, and his enjoyment of the course confirmed for him that working at the airport was the career direction he wanted to pursue. Delivering the programme was our CEO (and CEO of our sister company JNP Aviation!) who also served as the course instructor in Rotorua - and who was able to observe Corban's capability and potential first-hand.

His performance in the programme, combined with his positive attitude and clear desire to enter the industry, positioned him strongly for employment. Shortly after completing the micro-credential, he secured a role as a Ramp Service Agent with JNP Aviation - an impressive milestone for a student transitioning directly from secondary school into the aviation workforce!

He has already commenced employment and recently travelled to Auckland to complete his Air New Zealand induction training, a key requirement for his operational duties. He is now continuing with his JNP Aviation induction, preparing to take on the full responsibilities of his new role.

Reflecting on his first steps into the industry, he shared:

“I’m enjoying it all so far. It’s a lot of information to take in, but very exciting. I was a bit nervous starting out, but once I got into the [induction] training it felt pretty cool… I’m keen to learn more and get properly stuck into the job.”

His early success demonstrates the strength of the training-to-employment pathway offered through our aviation programmes and JNP Aviation, and highlights how students who show commitment and potential can progress quickly into meaningful roles within the aviation sector.
