Airport fire and rescue team members respond to emergencies and keep the airfield safe - protecting passengers, staff and looking after aircraft everyday.

Airport Fire & Rescue team members play a vital role in keeping airports and passengers safe. They respond to aviation-related emergencies such as aircraft incidents, medical situations, fires, and hazardous substance events, ensuring rapid and professional action when it matters most.
Beyond emergency response, team members perform a range of airfield services to maintain safety and compliance with Civil Aviation Rules. This includes runway inspections, checking surface and visibility conditions, managing wildlife, maintaining perimeter security, and removing foreign objects from the airfield.
If you're a secondary school student and would like to experience whether this career pathway is the one for you, our gateway course called "Take Off" which is a micro-credential in ground handing services gives you insight into airport operations and includes a visit to the Fire Safety station at the airport.
